  2. You will need to confirm your attendance by logging on to the Journées Québec platform.
  3. After confirming your attendance, you will receive a “Confirmation de votre entretien d’embauche” (confirmation of your job interview) email with the interview address or Internet link.

The interview will be held in French, unless otherwise specified in the job posting description. The level of French required of candidates may vary according to the position in Québec, but intermediate or advanced language skills are desirable.

All Journées Québec editions are currently being held virtually. Job interviews may be held remotely or in a location designated by the Québec government to ensure the availability of any computer equipment necessary to conduct the interview properly. Technical tests may also justify the need hold them in person. All of the details will be shared with the selected candidates when they receive an email invitation to a job interview.

AFTER MY JOB INTERVIEW WITH AN EMPLOYER

After a job interview with an employer, when will I know if I was selected for the job?

It depends on the employer. Feel free to ask them at the end of your interview. They will follow up with you.

If I get a job, approximately how long does it take from the time I accept the position until I start working (fill the position) in Québec?

It depends on the employer, the job offer and the employer’s needs. Generally speaking, job offers made through Journées Québec are intended to fill positions within 8 to 12 months. However, these timeframes may vary.

If an employer wants to hire me, what steps should I take in anticipation of coming to Québec?

You must absolutely obtain a Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ). The employer will initiate the process of having this certificate issued to you. You will then need to obtain a temporary work permit for you and, if applicable, your spouse.

To understand the steps involved in coming to and working temporarily in Québec, refer to the Temporary workers section of the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration website.

If I get a job in Québec, can I eventually move from temporary to permanent status while there?

Under certain conditions, you could benefit from the Programme de l’expérience québécoise, which makes it possible to turn a temporary stay into a permanent one.
